Are you looking for extra theological and leadership training to go alongside your part-time or full-time job? Are you looking to be equipped and to develop as an exceptional leader? Are you looking to be discipled and mentored?
At the St. Marks Academy, we offer our teaching modules to you, to go hand-in-hand with your current part-time or full-time job. Each module provides you with an array of new skills to help build you up as a leader, through establishing vision, creating values and teaching on how to manage your teams well. Our other modules can encourage you to explore confession and forgiveness, how to handle your Bible or even through exploring interpersonal communication.
Please see below our current modules available and tailored to you:
Leadership 1: Foundations
This module explores the vital importance of self-leadership, through attention to developing godly character, and establishing good personal rhythms which nurture heart, mind, body, and spirit. We look at the importance of building a value-driven culture in teams and explore what it means to lead with vision, offering tools to aid development and communicate a vision.
Discipleship 1: God's Masterpieces
This module equips you to understand and experience God’s restoration,so that you can minister from a place of increasing wholeness, rather than seeking to meet your own needs for acceptance or affirmation.
We then explore some important spiritual practices which enable you to relate well to God and be rightly orientated towards Him - such as confession and forgiveness. We also consider the importance of emotional health, looking at the impact of our primary relationships, and exploring how we might experience the Mother and Father love of God. We conclude by considering practical ways to sustain and enjoy our restoration in the midst of your daily life.
Faith 1: Bible Handling
This module gives you the tools to develop strong biblical literacy and to handle the Bible responsibly, skilfully, and thoughtfully, in both personal and public use. We will explore the big story of the Bible, as well as considering the nature of the biblical text, looking at issues of composition, authority, and inspiration. We discuss how to read it authentically, paying attention to issues of context, genre, and community
Leadership 2: Toolkit
This practical module equips you with key transferable skills which will enable them to minister effectively and lead well. Taught by a team of ministry practitioners, topics include time management, leading a small group, basic pastoral skills, developing a culture of evangelism, interpersonal communication, and public speaking.
Discipleship 2: Prayer & Spirituality
This module introduces you to a range of resources which will help you deepen your own spirituality. We explore a wide range of spiritual practices from across the Christian traditions, including Ignatian meditation, silence and solitude, and Lectio Divina. We then consider ways to employ such spiritual resources, through practices such as prayer ministry, spiritual warfare, and prayer and fasting.
Faith 2: Theological Themes & Contemporary Issues
This module explores a number of important theological themes, including the Church, the Kingdom of God, and the Mission of God. We then address selected contemporary issues, which are approached from a theological perspective. The emphasis throughout is on encouraging and equipping you to think theologically and to apply their thinking to practice. The topics chosen would respond to current cultural trends, but could include the question of suffering, race and racism, gender and sexuality, and Christian responses to climate change.
Cost - Each of these modules costs £80 on their own to complete. Through this, you will get the same teaching and resources as our Academy interns.
